Minutes of the meeting of June 4, 2003:
We have a new web site, which is www.mdmetroknitters.blogspot.com. Genia Planck will be maintaining the new web site. Laura Sergovic will not be able to continue because of family and work commitments. Thank you, Laura for all your work.
**side note: Please send any ideas, articles, favorite websites, book reviews for our website to: Knitgenia@aol.com**
Kathleen Walton is our new Librarian. Carol Mooring had to resign because of family commitments. Anyone interested in borrowing a book or tape from the library can do so by emailing Kathleen. Her email address is busywoman@eudoramail.com. Any materials borrowed can be kept for 1 month at the cost of $1.00
Since there wasn’t any response to the idea of a retreat in August, we won’t hold a retreat then. However, we still have the possibility of having a retreat at the beach in Delaware in the fall. Mady has an apartment in Bethany Beach and can put up 3 other members; Marilyn has two houses in Rehoboth that she and her family rent out. Marilyn will check on the availability of the houses in the fall for us to use.
It was announced by Kathy Graziani that there will be held the first annual Sock Knitters Day on June 21st, which will be held world wide. Our meeting will take place at the Starbucks located at the Market Place Shopping Plaza on the corner of Route 1 and Cherry Hill Road from 1 to 3PM.
Kathy Graziani asked for donations of children’s mittens, hats, scarves, and sweater sweaters. In August, she and her husband will be taking their children back to visit the orphanage in Russia from which they were adopted. The children at the orphanage range in age from 2 to 8 and are in great need for any warm clothing. Please bring any items that you are able to contribute to the August meeting.
Mady shared with the group some holiday ornament and gift package attachment patterns.
The rest of the evening we were able to enjoy the new yarns from the TKGA Trunk Show. The yarns were presented, some with swatches, and information as to the size needle and stitches per inch for each yarn. As the saying goes " So many yarns and not enough time".
